Tracey House is very much part of the Community. Residents are positively encouraged to join any community activities (e.g. local fund raising events, tea parties, various meetings or simply to visit the country/seaside, family and friends). Transport is provided whenever possible.
We ensure that our Residents have the latitude of freedom to come and go as and when they please. Relatives and visitors are welcome at any time.
We always offer a tray of refreshments or the opportunity to stay for a meal.
Additional entertainment includes musical afternoons by invited entertainers. We also hold two annual local charity events, a Garden Party in the summer and a coffee morning in the winter, in which the Residents have the choice of participating both on the day and prior to the event.
Newspapers of choice are ordered for every individual if desired. Residents are encouraged to participate in the workings of Tracey House (i.e. delivering the post, preparing garden produce for meals or writing letters).
A weekly outing is organised to Bovey Tracey for shopping and morning coffee. Additional outings are made throughout the year to explore the moors, walk along the seafront, visit garden centres and look around open gardens, as well as local sites of interest.
The “Tracey House Review” is published twice a year, featuring a wide variety of articles contributed by Residents and staff, reflecting past life experiences and current events within the life of the home.
We recognise the importance of Spiritual Care and of undertaking an individual holistic approach to each resident.
To this effect all religions/beliefs are recognised and respected. All denominations of Ministers make regular visits to offer Services and Communion. We always try to ensure that there are regular services and visits that reflect the current spiritual beliefs of our residents.
It is our policy to mark and celebrate the spiritual events of the year. All our staff are encouraged to recognise the importance of spiritual needs and to value them
An individual approach is taken to each Resident’s social needs ensuring the choice of a wide range of activities. The current regular weekly activities include:
- Exercise classes
- Film afternoon
- Mobile shop
- Shopping and coffee in Bovey Tracey
- Knitting group (organized as part of a charity project to make blankets)
- Communion service (various denominations)
- Singing group
